Please come along and view some fantastic pieces of art work created by children and young people, nursing staff and doctors from The Princess Royal, have the opportunity to purchase these, and support your local children's ward, so that we can provide further art projects and therapies to children while they recover from illness and long term health conditions.

Balgowan Primary School confirms 2 children are staying at home with Swine Flu, parents are kept up to date by the Head Teacher and fact sheets for families given to all children, with updates to be delivered via their website.

Other schools in the area are being reported as not being so open on social media sites.

With a week to go before the end of term are they expecting a mass withdrawal of children if they do?

Beckenham Town FC have pulled off a massive coup by convincing Teddy Sheringham to play for them in this season's FA Vase. The former Manchester United, Spurs and England striker is set to make his appearance on September 5 when the club welcome Wealden to Eden Park Avenue for first round qualifying.

Sheringham, 43, played against the Reds for a celebrity XI at the end of May, netting a hat-trick in a 5-4 win.

Sorry, our BigLunch is OFF. What with work and other committments I've been unable to spend anytime on sorting this out, sorry guys, so the BigLunch in Clock House Road - the station end will not be happening. I tried to get the BigLunch website to remove the marker, but unbelievably they can't because 2-3 people said they were attending, although I have no idea who they are and can't contact them, another failing of their site, which I think they should have addressed in its planning. Perhaps another time...

There is a signing of a petition this afternoon (9th July) at Balgowan Primary School against the proposed CPZ if anyone wishes to sign it - 3.30pm at both school gates. The school and local residents in the surrounding roads outside the scheme were not informed or canvassed about the CPZ that will affect them so are making their feelings known to the local council through the petition. Open to all.

Data on ParkingStress in BlandfordRoad, May2008:
A survey was carried out just over a year ago to measure "parking stress under normal overnight conditions" for all potential on-street parking spaces within a 200 metres radius of No. 12 Blandford Road. The survey was carried out at around dawn (04:00 to 05:30) by consultants, Wood & Building Co. (of London SE24). The survey report runs to 12 pages and includes a lot of street-scene photos. It was prepared to support the planning application 08/02024, which entails demolishing an off-street garage and building on the site a single family dwelling unit. The report can be freely accessed via Bromley Council's website. (Go to Planning from the A-Z index, then Public Access to Planning Applications, then type in the application reference 08/02024, then search under the tab Associated Documents). For each road, the consultants measured the length of "unrestricted kerbside supply" (i.e. length of kerbside excluding: crossovers/driveways, disabled bays, yellow lines, pedestrian crossings, etc.). Then they totted up the number of vehicles parked. Then they calculated the parking stress coefficient. Let's say for Villiers Road, the number of vehicles parked was 39. Multiply that by 5 metres (i.e. assume 5 metres per vehicle) gives 195 metres. Divide that into the unrestricted kerbside supply (330 metres) gives 59% as the parking stress coefficient for Villiers Road at a typical dawn in mid-May 2008. Their measurements for unrestricted kerbside supply covered 8 roads. They found 315 parked vehicles on a total relevant kerbside length of 2022 metres. From which, they concluded that the parking stress coefficient was only 78% and there was "unused on-street parking space" for about 90 cars. Hence, they argued, it won't aggravate the parking stress very much if we knock down the garage next to No.12 Blandford Road! Attached *.PDF is an extract of the data from the report. Just to summarise, parking stress was measured as:
89% Blandford Road
88% Birkbeck Road
84% Sultan Street
79% Avenue Road
75% Sidney Road
74% Churchfields Road
59% Villiers Road
53% Mackenzie Road
