Of course we don't know the primary motivation of the council for this - they would not tell us! However, I bet money has a lot to do with it. In the official documents to set the thing up the costings were clearly set out. The startup costs are a...

Don't get me wrong - I think this CPZ is the worst thing that could have happened. It was badly thought through, badly implemented, benefits no-one (really - even residents' parking wasn't that bad before the implementation) - except the council w...

Well there are public carparks: 1) Spa, 2) Multistorey in Beckenham 3) St Georges in Beckenham 4) Behind the cinema 5) a small one at Elmer's end, all of which, if you wanted to, you could use (if you could bear to walk more than 20 yards). Or get...

You are right - the parking is completely stuffed outside of the CPZ. And this is one of the reasons why the CPZ should not have happened. But once it was going to happen you had to be in it to be safe! Isn't community spirit great?. As for commu...

Hi all! Has anyone noticed that we seem to have a nice shiny CCTV camera setup in Blandford Road. Not sure what it is for, who is looking at it, if anyone knows anything about it but it wasn't there last week. It looks like there are two cameras ...

And one further mistake (amongst quite a few it would seem)... You are asked to sign the residents' permit document and agree by the terms and conditions.... of the visitor permit scheme. Which is, of course, something completely different. I pho...

Of course, the problem with car sharing schemes is that they are difficult (well, impossible) to have in the CPZ. Car clubs and the like can't park in the zone as the user might not be a resident and they have loads of cars which move around all o...

This reminds be of the great book I used to have/saw once called "Trees of Wimbledon". Loads of pictures of over pollarded trees in the leafy(!) suburbs of Wimbledon. Please look at the amazon review for details Trees of Wimbledon. Currently ridin...

Reg, Thanks for the comments - there seems to be a complete lack of anything regarding this CPZ proposal on the Bromley website. Is this usual practice for schemes such as this? Would you consider the lack of publication something that would be s...

Right, I've had the quickest of glances through the documents and something really catches my eye. Perhaps I've got it wrong but it looks to me that the Council is budgetting for a net income (read "profit") of £20,400 in the first full year (201...

Reg, Thanks for letting us know about this, but just a couple of things 1) I have been looking on the Bromley website for ages trying to get the document and nothing comes up (searching for ESO9075 brings up nothing, Clockhouse CPZ brings up not...

Or.... turn the unused (well underused) multistorey car park behind the Civica building into a public one? Or get Networtk Rail to use some of their land at Elmer's End station and turn it into commuter parking? Or utilise the big car park at the ...

Kind of strange that it slipped his mind though - might it not be worth bringing up next week? £30k is not far off the total cost of setting the thing up so with pay and display and fines to collect perhaps it could be free to the residents!

Jon, Thanks for this - I was at the meeting ai the library recently and unfortunatelycould not make it last night. I'll be going to the next one though! Looks like it was an interesting meeting. On the legal front do you know where these rules a...

I don't think that there is much point in resurveying at this stage - the council will ignore it. What you have to do is play by their rules. 1) Complain to the council that the process of the consultation was flawed and thus needs to be annulle...
